Heritage ski manufacturer making moves in high end sports and leisure
Born at the end of the 19th Century, Kneissl is one of the oldest, most innovative and respected ski manufacturers in the world. They produce handmade, market-leading skis and sporting equipment with a strong focus on quality without compromise, Kneissl skis utilise classic design, natural materials and the most advanced woodcore sandwich-technology available today. They were seeking to enter a more mainstream commercial space with the launch of high end ski and leisurewear, tailor made for the most stylish customers and serious sportspeople. I helped to reposition the brand through an extensive brand workshop, redefining Kneissl for the modern skier. Using their well established logo and basic brand system, I developed a new set of guidelines including expanded collateral, brochures, digital channels and apparel.

The simple colour palette reflects the company’s core product line; high end handmade skis fall into three main groups: White Star; Black Star; Red Star. The technical product brochure is designed to be striking, but to retain an ordered and technical feel reflecting the attention to detail that goes into all Kneissl skis. The newly designed ecommerce website leans more into the alpine lifestyle; images are dynamic, bold and full of adventure.

The new range of Kneissl apparel is designed to match the simple and stylish presentation of the brand. Items are available in white, red and black, featuring bold expressions of the Kneissl brand logo – the colours pop and items mix and match with effortless continuity. The brand now feels much more ‘joined up’ – there is a coherent message, a consistent appearance and at whichever touch point the customer encounters Kneissl, they know they are dealing with a high end, quality product.
